Twilight and my Thoughts on it.

So we all know about the movies and the books. And we all know about the die hard fans known as "twi hards". I had never even heard of the series until the first movie came out. And even then I didn't really think that much of it. And suddenly everyone was going crazy and I was the only one on the planet that hadn't seen this movie. So then came the second movie; still not interested. Well with number 3 on it's way I thought why not.

I borrowed the books from a lady I work with. I got threw the whole series in about a month. While at times I was riveted, other times I wanted to pull my hair out.

First off, why is everyone in this crap town falling in love with Bella? She's so emo and annoying and had no personality. But I must admit in the first book I identified with her. I too was (and am) awkward and don't fit in with most people, and fall down a lot. It's every geeky girls fantasy to have the gorgeous rich guy fall in love with you. So I was team Edward all the way. I was a fan after the first book. Bella's obsession with Edward was too much but I let it go because she was 17 and we all were like that at that age.

There were also lots of plot holes that were poorly explained. Edward can read peoples thoughts but they still had to go to Italy to save him? They think he won't believe their thoughts??? Umm ok sure. But the biggest annoyance was how stupid all the Vampires were in Eclipse. I wanted to scream while reading because they just couldn't figure out who was trying to kill them. They relied too much on their gifts instead of basic common sense.

I also thought the werewolves just had more personality. Jacob imprints on Edward and Bellas demon spawn child. Oh how convenient. That way he's just suddenly over his heartbreak. I enjoy a happy ending as much as everyone else. But this ending of the series was ridiculous. There wasn't even a battle that was so highly anticipated. The bad guys just turned and walked away. Seriously?

Ugh I could go on but for the sake of time I'll stop. What is wrong with the youth of America that they are so obsessed with this series. I just don't get it. I mean it was ok, but this certainly didn't leave any high marks in the literary world.

  1. you've been had...now you too are blogging! my issue with the whole thing is this: glamorizing bad things, i.e. "I'll just die if I can't be with you" type of young relationships is BAD and the parents who let their 11 year old daughters read and watch this series are irresponsible and just practicing BAD parenting. Put in more sex and aim for the adult population; forget the teens. I thought teaching your 5 year old that they will be swept off their feet by Prince Charming was BAD, but this is ridiculous.
